Fighting for Survival

Poaching for the illegal pet trade and for meat has pushed the species to Critically Endangered. Conservationists now race to protect the remaining wild populations of this living jewel.

Slow and Ancient

Radiated tortoises are famously long-lived; one is documented to have reached at least 188 years. Each one is a slow, patient survivor wearing a coat of stars.
