Ready to Display

A single, sturdy hand-painted piece — no assembly, no fuss. Set it on a desk or shelf and it holds its happy pose, ready to collect and show off.

Series 11 hides a glowing giant for last. The emperor scorpion is one of the biggest scorpions in the world, all glossy black armor and massive pincers — yet it is famously docile, and under ultraviolet light its whole body lights up an unearthly blue-green.

A Gentle Giant

Despite its fearsome size and huge claws, the emperor scorpion has surprisingly mild venom and a calm temperament, relying on its powerful pincers far more than its sting.

It Glows in the Dark

Like all scorpions, its shell contains compounds that fluoresce under ultraviolet light, making the whole animal glow blue-green in the dark — a ghostly trick scientists still study.

Not an Insect

With eight legs, a pair of pincers and a segmented tail, the emperor scorpion is an arachnid, a cousin of spiders rather than a true insect — a fitting oddball to close an insect series.

The Collector’s Reward

As the secret chase of the series, the emperor scorpion is the piece keepers hunt for — the most dramatic minibeast in the set, rendered friendly, glossy and round.

“A giant in black armor that lights up blue-green in the dark.”
