ANTLERS OF THE FOREST · the stag beetle
A Series of Laugh and Grow
Real animals, reimagined plump and cheerful — painted in lifelike detail, sculpted impossibly cute.
Chubby & Full of Character
Rounded, soft and undeniably cute — yet every scale, wrinkle and marking is hand-painted true to the real animal. The reaction it gets in person is always the same: so detailed, and so adorable.
Ready to Display
A single, sturdy hand-painted piece — no assembly, no fuss. Set it on a desk or shelf and it holds its happy pose, ready to collect and show off.
Stag beetles get their name from the males’ magnificent jaws, which curve and branch like the antlers of a deer — and few wear them better than Parry’s stag beetle, a glossy Southeast Asian giant beloved by beetle keepers around the world.
Antlers Made of Jaws
Those spectacular ‘antlers’ are actually greatly enlarged mandibles. Despite their fearsome look, they are used mainly for grappling, not biting — tools of wrestling, not weapons of war.
Duels on the Branch
Males use their long jaws to grip and lever rivals off tree trunks and branches in contests over feeding sites and mates, in slow trials of strength and leverage.
Big, Glossy and Prized
With their impressive size, deep glossy coloring and dramatic jaws, Parry’s stag beetles are among the most sought-after beetles in the insect-keeping hobby.
A Gentle Giant
For all the intimidating hardware, it is a peaceful feeder on tree sap and fruit — here rendered plump and glossy, antlers and all.
