The Family’s Oldest Photograph

Genetic studies place the South China tiger closest to the ancestral tiger — the stem population from which Bengal, Siberian, Sumatran and the rest are believed to have branched. In a very real sense, every tiger on Earth is a variation on this one.

Stripes Worn Thin
