Ready to Display

A single, sturdy hand-painted piece — no assembly, no fuss. Set it on a desk or shelf and it holds its happy pose, ready to collect and show off.

Big, bold and utterly harmless to people, the pine snake is one of North America’s most impressive constrictors. When threatened it puts on a show — flattening its head, vibrating its tail and letting out a hiss so loud and deep it sounds like a far larger animal.

A Hiss Like No Other

A special flap in front of its windpipe lets the pine snake amplify its hiss into a loud, buzzing roar — a bluff so convincing that many predators simply back away.

Born to Dig

Powerful and thick-bodied with a pointed snout, the pine snake burrows through sandy soil in search of rodents in their own tunnels, and to lay its eggs underground.

Strength, Not Venom

It is a non-venomous constrictor, overpowering rodents and other prey with sheer muscle — an important natural pest controller of the pine woods.

A Southern Native

At home in the sandy pine forests of the American Southeast, the pine snake is a large, striking native — here rounded into a plump, characterful coil.

“All bluff and no venom — the loudest hiss in the pine woods.”
