A HORNED HEAVYWEIGHT · velvet giant
A Series of Laugh and Grow
Real animals, reimagined plump and cheerful — painted in lifelike detail, sculpted impossibly cute.
Chubby & Full of Character
Rounded, soft and undeniably cute — yet every scale, wrinkle and marking is hand-painted true to the real animal. The reaction it gets in person is always the same: so detailed, and so adorable.
Ready to Display
A single, sturdy hand-painted piece — no assembly, no fuss. Set it on a desk or shelf and it holds its happy pose, ready to collect and show off.
One of the largest beetles in the Americas, the elephant beetle is a true heavyweight — males wield long, curved horns and the whole body is covered in a fuzz of fine yellowish hairs that gives it a soft, dusty, velvet-like appearance.
Named for a Giant
Its size and its long, curving horn earned it the name ‘elephant beetle’ — one of the biggest and heaviest beetles found in the American tropics.
A Velvet Coat
A dense layer of tiny hairs coats its black body, often giving it a yellowish, velvety look, especially when dry — an unusual, almost soft texture for such an armored insect.
Horns for Wrestling
Males use their impressive horns to grapple with rivals over feeding sites and mates, in the slow trials of strength typical of rhinoceros beetles.
A Gentle Colossus
It feeds on tree sap, fallen fruit and bark — a peaceful giant despite its formidable size and hardware, here rounded into a plump, velvety figure.
