Kitan Club Unveils “Frog Forest Workshop: Safe Return Frog Sling” Gashapon: A Symbol of Safe Journey
Kitan Club, in collaboration with the renowned Japanese frog model studio Frog Forest Workshop (カエルの森工房), introduces the enchanting “Frog Forest Workshop: Safe Return Frog Sling” Gashapon series. Following the success of their previous “Sitting Frog Series,” this new collection is set to launch in early March 2024. It features four distinct styles, and they are priced at 400 Japanese Yen (approximately $2.96).
The Frog Forest Workshop, based in Fukushima, Japan, has been dedicated to creating frog-themed illustrations and sculptures since 2001. The studio, which moved to Fukushima in 2013, is well-known for its detailed frog models inspired by the owner’s hiking hobbies and real-life observations in mountains and forests.
In Japanese, the word for frog (カエル) is a homonym for “return/back home” (帰る), giving these “Safe Return Frog Sling” a special meaning of “safe return.” Standing about 4.9 cm tall (excluding the sling), these adorable frogs are depicted wearing hiking boots and carrying oversized backpacks with their hands on their hips in a cute pose. The sling comes in red, blue, black, and white color variations for the backpacks. Ingeniously, the climbing rope is threaded through the gap between the frog and the backpack, eliminating the need for metal rings and maintaining the overall aesthetic. This thoughtful design aligns perfectly with the hiking frog theme, making these slings ideal for hanging on backpacks as a charm for safe travels.
