“Art in Gashapon: A Leap into Traditional Japanese Wind and Thunder Gods with Frog!”

Bandai Spirits' 'Art in Gashapon' series reimagines Japanese Wind and Thunder Gods with a unique frog theme.

Bandai Spirits Launches “Art in Gashapon” Series with Kazutaso Company: A Unique Take on Wind and Thunder Gods

Bandai Spirits, a renowned Japanese toy and hobby company, in collaboration with Kazutaso Company, is set to revolutionize the Gashapon (capsule toy) market with the “Art in Gashapon” series. This innovative collection presents a fresh artistic take on the iconic Japanese Wind and Thunder Gods, reimagined in a unique frog-themed design. Scheduled for release in late June 2024, these captivating capsule toys offer four styles, each priced at 500 Japanese Yen.

The “Art in Gashapon” series, now available for pre-order on PREMIUM BANDAI’s “GASHAPON ONLINE,” transforms the creations of Kazutaso Company, a scholar of reptile and amphibian studies, into miniature works of art. Each capsule toy is a 3D representation of the “Frog × Buddhist Statue” (カエル×仏像) series, standing at approximately 8 cm in height. These figures intricately depict the rough, bumpy skin and expressive eyes of frogs, brilliantly combining them with the imagery of the national treasure-level Japanese painting, “Wind God and Thunder God Screens.”

Available in two distinct color schemes, wood-like and bronze-like finishes, these frog-themed Wind and Thunder Gods exude a sense of nobility and charm unique to this series. The detailed texture and quality painting bring these figures to life, showcasing the blend of traditional Japanese artistry with modern toy design. The “Art in Gashapon” series embodies Bandai’s commitment to creativity and cultural appreciation, offering art enthusiasts and Gashapon collectors a unique addition to their collections.

In summary, the “Art in Gashapon カエルの風神雷神像” series includes:

  • Size: Approximately 80mm in length
  • Materials: PVC, ABS
  • Price: 500 Japanese Yen per capsule (including tax)
  • Expected release date: Late June 2024

This series is a testament to Bandai Spirits’ innovative approach to bridging traditional art and modern collectibles, making it a must-have for fans of Japanese culture and capsule toy collectors.
