The Death Guard Typhus, Herald of the Plague God Action Figure is JoyToy’s next Warhammer 40K release, and it’s on pre-order now for $110. Shipping is expected between December 2026 and February 2027, though the estimate allows for orders to go out as late as May 2027. I’ve been waiting a while for JoyToy to get to the Traveller, and I’m glad they didn’t make him pretty.
The Death Guard Typhus, Herald of the Plague God Action Figure is an articulated 1/18 scale Warhammer 40,000 action figure made by JoyToy. It stands 15 cm (appx. 5.71 in) tall and costs $110. It is expected to ship between December 2026 and February 2027, with a limit of 6 per person.
Who Typhus Was Before the Flies
If you know the lore, you know Typhus used to be Calas Typhon, First Captain of the Death Guard and the most gifted psyker in Mortarion’s Legion. He’s the one who quietly sabotaged the Navigators on the fleet bound for Terra, stranding ten thousand of his own brothers in the Warp. That betrayal is the whole character, and it’s why I think he works so well as a figure: he’s a Space Marine officer whose armor tells you exactly what he traded away. For a lot of 40K fans, he’s the first Chaos villain who made the Death Guard feel like more than slow, grim tanks.

Terminator Armor That Turned Into a Hive
The corrupted Terminator Armour is the part I’m watching closest. In the lore it’s half war plate, half nest, with daemonic flies pouring out of cracks and vents, so a clean sculpt would be the wrong call. A figure this small lives or dies on how the paint handles grime: sickly greens, tarnished brass and weathering in the recesses, not just a wash slopped over everything. Keep in mind the photos show a prototype, so the final production piece may differ in appearance.

Bulk at 1/18 Scale
Terminators are supposed to look wider than they are tall, and Typhus is an especially swollen one. At 15 cm (appx. 5.71 in), JoyToy has to fit that silhouette onto a figure that still moves, which is the trade-off its whole Warhammer line keeps making. Compared with Hot Toys at 1/6, you obviously get less fabric and less fine texture per square inch, but you also get a figure you can line up next to a whole squad without buying a new shelf. I’d rather have a slightly chunky 1/18 Typhus that poses than a gorgeous one that only stands at attention.

Where He Fits in a JoyToy Shelf
JoyToy has already given Horus Heresy fans primarchs like Alpharius and Warmaster Horus, plus a run of MkX helmet replicas for the Ultramarines, Dark Angels and Blood Angels. Typhus slots in as the villain those loyal Marines need to stand across from. The lore says he thinks of himself as more faithful to Nurgle than Mortarion himself, so I can already picture him posed a step ahead of his own primarch. We’ll update this piece if JoyToy confirms the full accessory list, including whether the manreaper scythe Lakrimae comes in the box.

The Collector’s Survival Guide: How to Justify This
The Collector Math: Every Warhammer collector owns a Pile of Shame, the mountain of grey plastic he swears he’ll paint someday. JoyToy ships Typhus fully painted for $110, so my painting time is exactly zero hours and the pile doesn’t grow an inch. My first Warhammer project finished before it even ships.
How to tell your wife: Babe, Typhus sails the galaxy on a battleship called the Terminus Est, which is Latin for ‘this is the end.’ So this $110 figure is officially the end of my collection. It’s in Latin, so it’s legally binding.
How to tell your parents: Dad, you always told me never to replace something that still works. Typhus has worn the same suit of Terminator armor for ten thousand years, rust and flies included, and he’s never once bought a new one. That’s your ‘it still works’ speech at 15 centimeters.
How to tell your kids: This is Typhus, and his god, Grandfather Nurgle, is obsessed with the number seven. That’s why Sideshow won’t let anyone buy more than six, and it’s why you get six cookies, never seven. Take a seventh and Grandfather Nurgle comes over to share.
At $110 for an articulated 1/18 Typhus in that rotted Terminator plate, I think he earns his spot, especially if your shelf already has Horus or Alpharius waiting for a proper villain. My only hesitation is the prototype caveat, so I’d keep an eye on final production photos of that armor weathering before the December to February window.
