The Great Shelf Eviction of 2026 Starts Now for the HG Gustav Karl Type 00

Man, I am looking at my display case right now and it is a literal war zone. There is zero room left, but Bandai Spirits just had to go and reveal the final look and box art for the upcoming HG 1/144 Gustav Karl Type 00 from Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway. Look at those proportions! This thing is an absolute unit.

I know what you’re thinking—’Don’t you already have the UC version?’ Yeah, I do, but this isn’t just a simple recolor or a lazy rehash. We are talking about almost entirely redesigned parts here to match the Hathaway’s Flash aesthetic. The Type 00 looks way more streamlined and less like a clunky brick compared to the older version. The shoulder armor and the waist skirts look so much more natural and ‘natural,’ giving it a much more aggressive,精悍 (keen) silhouette. My poor Jegan collection is sweating right now because one of them is definitely getting evicted to make room for this new heavy hitter.

The engineering looks like a massive step up too. They’ve included a sliding mechanism in the hip joints to expand the range of motion for those thick legs. Even better, that signature shield on the left shoulder is on a multi-axis arm, so you can actually pose it defensively in different directions. Honestly, the way they handled the storage for the beam rifle and the bazooka on the backpack is just icing on the cake.

I’m already mentally rearranging my entire ‘Federation Grunt’ shelf just to prepare for the arrival of this king. The wait until February 2026 is going to be absolutely brutal, but seeing these physical sample photos makes it clear: my current collection better start packing its bags because the Gustav Karl Type 00 is taking over.
