Bandai Celebrates “Digimon Adventure” 25th Anniversary with “Sacred Plan -25th COLOR EVOLUTION- DX Set”
To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the television anime “Digimon Adventure,” Bandai has not only released the “Sacred Plan -25th COLOR EVOLUTION-” series but also a deluxe version for die-hard fans of the original Digimon animation. The deluxe “Sacred Plan -25th COLOR EVOLUTION- DX Set,” featuring characters Taichi and Yamato in unique color variants, is scheduled for release alongside the regular version in July 2024.
The Sacred Plan, a device used by the “Chosen Children” in the original “Digimon Adventure” anime, offers functions such as enabling Digimon partners to evolve, purifying the forces of darkness, and locating companions. In real life, Bandai released a monster battling device in 1999 with a similar design, where players could raise various types of Digimon. Progression in this LCD toy was advanced by a pendulum-like mechanism, encouraging players to train and care for their Digimon, helping them evolve to become stronger and defeat formidable enemies encountered along the journey.
The “Sacred Plan -25th COLOR EVOLUTION- DX Set” offers the same hardware evolution as the previously introduced regular version, allowing fans to re-experience the original “Digimon Adventure” story. It features a color LCD screen, USB Type-C rechargeable battery, full-color LED light, and a vibration motor, providing an immersive experience with rich audio-visual effects.
Differences in this version include the color scheme of the Sacred Plan device and several DX version exclusives. The Taichi version features a transparent orange casing symbolizing the Crest of Courage with blue buttons. In contrast, the Yamato version embodies the Crest of Friendship with a transparent blue casing and white buttons. Both DX versions include the following deluxe bonuses:
- Badges and Pendant: 3D replicas based on the badges worn by the “Chosen Children” in the anime, featuring eight transparent badges representing Courage, Friendship, Love, Sincerity, Knowledge, Reliability, Hope, and Light, interchangeable on the pendant. The back of the pendant is engraved with a 25th-anniversary logo, and the 70 cm (about 27.56 inches) chain allows it to be worn as a regular accessory.
- Commemorative Booklet: A printed booklet containing original setting drafts and pixel art used in the “Sacred Plan -25th COLOR EVOLUTION-” game software.
- Camping Special Items: Special items tied to the DX version that can be used in the camping scenes in the game. The Taichi version includes “Sacred Plan Taichi Ver.,” “Taichi’s Goggles,” and “Fried Chicken,” while the Yamato version offers “Sacred Plan Yamato Ver.,” “Yamato’s Harmonica,” and “Curry Rice.”
