A Space Ranger at Mega Scale
Buzz has always been a design built from chunky shapes: the dome helmet, the boxy chest, the fold-out wings. That’s why he suits Molly’s 1000% format better than most crossovers do, since Molly’s oversized head and stubby proportions already read like a vinyl toy version of a Space Ranger. At 70 cm, you’re looking at roughly toddler height, which turns the classic purple, green and white palette into big flat fields of color where any paint slip would show, so clean masking matters more here than on a pocket-sized Molly.

The official story line says that when the warning lights flash on both sides of the jetpack, a new mission begins, and that’s the feature I keep coming back to. A movable helmet is a smart nod to Buzz, since the dome popping open is one of his signature moments in the films. The obvious benchmark at this size is Medicom’s 1000% BE@RBRICK line, which built the whole mega-scale designer toy category. BE@RBRICKs mostly carry their concept on printed surfaces, while this Molly leans on sculpted gear, a lighting feature and NFC authentication in the left foot, which you tap with your phone to verify the figure. That last part is a quiet win at a $1,000 price point, because a giant Molly is just the kind of piece people try to fake.

How to tell your wife: Babe, you’re always saying there’s never a charger in this house when you need one. I just preordered a brand-new Type-C cable, and it works with your phone. The 70-centimeter Buzz Lightyear came free with it.
How to tell your parents: Mom, you always told me to stop living in a fantasy world. Buzz needed a whole movie and a TV commercial to accept he’s a toy, but I knew before I clicked preorder. I’m officially more grounded than Buzz Lightyear.
How to tell your kids: This is Buzz Lightyear, and in Toy Story a toy belongs to whoever’s name is written on the bottom of his boot. That’s why every marker in this house just moved to the top shelf. Nobody’s stealing Buzz on a technicality.
This is a big swing at $1,000, but the light-up jetpack wings, the opening-helmet nod and the NFC-checked left foot give it real reasons to exist beyond sheer size. If Toy Story is your childhood and Molly is your present, I think it earns the shelf space, as long as you’ve measured for 70 cm first.
