The Hikaru Shidou Collectible Figure by Kotobukiya is up for pre-order, and Magic Knight Rayearth fans finally get the fire knight in scale form. It costs USD 185 and is expected to ship between June 2027 and November 2027. I’ve been waiting for someone to give Hikaru proper treatment, so I’m very happy to see this one.
The Hikaru Shidou Collectible Figure is a 1:7 scale figure from the TV anime Magic Knight Rayearth, made by Kotobukiya and sculpted by Seki Yudai. It stands 29 cm (appx. 11.42 in) tall and is priced at USD 185. Shipping is expected from June 2027 to November 2027, with a purchase limit of 6 per person.
A Pose That Actually Moves
Hikaru is the youngest and boldest of the three Magic Knights, and Seki Yudai leans into that with a forward-pitched pose and her sword out, like she’s about to jump off the base. Her grin is bright and open, which is right for a character whose whole thing is running toward trouble with an honest heart. Her long red braid gets real sculpt volume here, swinging out behind her so the silhouette reads from across a room.
Fire, Rendered in Acrylic
The base is the part I keep coming back to. Kotobukiya used translucent parts for the flame effects, and for the Magic Knight of fire that’s the correct call, because opaque painted flames always look like orange frosting. The material list runs ABS, metal, PVC and acrylic, so expect that clear-and-colored layering to catch light from a shelf lamp. Keep in mind these are prototype photos, and the final production piece may differ in appearance.
Paint and Color Separation
The outfit and accessories use delicate gradations and precise color separation to pick out different textures, which is where anime scale figures win or lose. If Kotobukiya hits the same crispness on the armor edges that Alter is known for on its 1:7 pieces, $185 looks fair for a 29 cm figure with an effects base. I’ll hold my final opinion until production shots show up, and we’ll update this when they do.
Mokona Gets His Own Spot
Mokona comes with a separate base, so you can park the white fluffball wherever you like instead of having him glued to Hikaru’s boot. It’s a small touch, but it lets you stage the pair however you want on the shelf. She’s also designed to sit alongside Umi Ryuuzaki (sold separately), and I’m quietly hoping Fuu completes the trio.

The Collector’s Survival Guide: How to Justify This
The Collector Math: Princess Emeraude had to pull three schoolgirls off a field trip at Tokyo Tower and drag them into another world just to get her Magic Knights. Sideshow delivers the Magic Knight of fire to my door for $185, and nobody misses school. Honestly, Emeraude should’ve just preordered.
How to tell your wife: Babe, every fairy tale says you deserve a knight in shining armor. So I got you a real Magic Knight with a sword, and the materials list literally says metal. Your knight ships next June; she’ll guard you from my shelf.
How to tell your parents: Mom, you always told me to make friends with good influences. Hikaru’s best friends are a fencer and an honor student, and together they saved an entire world. For $185, I’m finally in with the right crowd.
How to tell your kids: This is Hikaru, and when she’s in trouble she calls her Rune God Rayearth, a giant fire god the size of a building. Touch her sword, and she’ll think she’s in trouble. Our living room is not big enough for Rayearth.
For Rayearth fans, the translucent flame base and a free-standing Mokona make this one easy to earn its shelf space, as long as the final paint matches the prototype. The ship date runs from June to November 2027, and the retailer notes it may ship as late as February 2028, so pre-order with patience rather than urgency.
