I Swore This Was My Last Purchase But This New Rick Dom Is Testing My Soul

Look, I’m a man of my word. Usually. I told everyone this was going to be my last haul for the month, but then Bandai Spirits decided to drop the latest intel on the HG 1/144 Shaliyan’s Rick Dom (GQ). Honestly, how am I supposed to say no to this? It’s like they knew exactly which strings to pull to make me break my own rules.

This isn’t your grandpa’s Rick Dom. Coming straight out of the Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX universe, this beast was redesigned by the legendary Ikuto Yamashita. Man, the silhouette is just striking. It keeps that classic, chunky Dom feel we all love, but the limbs are more refined, and the back? That’s where things get wild. It features a freaking ‘third leg’ that allows it to transform into a high-mobility mode. It looks less like a mobile suit and more like a high-speed mechanical nightmare. I need it on my shelf immediately.

One thing that really caught my eye in these new sample photos is the color separation. Bandai is using their latest tech here, especially with those metallic silver molded parts for the thrusters on the waist and feet. The internal details of the trusses and pipes look incredibly crisp. They did mention that if you want that pop of red inside the nozzles like in the official photos, you’ll have to do some custom painting, but for a kit this unique, I’m more than happy to put in the work.

Even better, the transformation to that high-mobility hovering mode is completely parts-free. No swapping bits and losing them in your carpet! For weaponry, we’re getting two Heat Sabers that tuck away behind the shoulders, a massive Giant Bazooka, and even the Electromagnetic Hook for the arms with a real wire included for those action poses. February 2026 cannot come fast enough. My ‘last purchase’ lie was worth it for this one.
