The Pokémon Center's 'Hyper Beam' series brings a new set of collectible 3D models, including fan-favorites Dragonite and Snorlax, to life.

Pokémon Center’s “Hyper Beam” Series Brings Iconic Moves to Life with Collectible 3D Models

The Pokémon Center is set to release an exciting new series of peripherals themed around the powerful “Hyper Beam” move from the Pokémon series. Slated for release on March 16, 2024, this collection includes six popular Pokémon models: Dragonite, Snorlax, Porygon, Gyarados, Pterodactyl, and Tauros. Each is priced at 8,800 JPY (approximately $65.12 USD).

“Hyper Beam,” a Normal-type move known for its immense power of 150, renders the user immobile in the next turn after use. However, in the first-generation games “Pokémon Red/Green/Blue/Pikachu,” this drawback is invalid if the attack defeats the opponent. Notably, when used by Tauros, a Normal-type Pokémon, “Hyper Beam” becomes exceptionally potent, increasing its power by 1.5 times. With Tauros’ impressive Attack of 100 and Speed of 110, alongside moves like Blizzard, Earthquake, and Thunderbolt, it rivals Mewtwo as one of the strongest Pokémon of the first generation.

This “Hyper Beam” series continues the theme of last year’s “Hyper Beam” peripheral line, featuring 3D models based on the primary visual illustrations of each Pokémon executing the move. The designs of the bases correspond to the Pokémon’s type and setting, such as Porygon emerging from electronic equipment and Gyarados riding towering waves, making for a striking display. While the models do not recreate the energy ball of the “Hyper Beam,” the base’s translucency effect creates a similar gathering energy effect.

The series includes:

  • Dragonite (Kairyu)
  • Snorlax (Kabigon)
  • Porygon
  • Gyarados
  • Pterodactyl (Ptera)
  • Tauros (Kentauros)
