The Godzilla vs. Shinsei-maru (Bonus Version) Diorama by Prime 1 Studio is up for pre-order, and it rebuilds the Ogasawara sea chase from Takashi Yamazaki’s Godzilla Minus One. It’s priced at USD 2,365 and is expected to ship between May 2028 and October 2028. I’ve been waiting for someone to sculpt that tiny wooden minesweeper running for its life, and Prime 1 went big.
The Godzilla vs. Shinsei-maru (Bonus Version) Diorama is a polystone diorama made by Prime 1 Studio as part of its Ultimate Diorama Masterline. It costs USD 2,365, is limited to 350 pieces with a limit of 1 per person, and is expected to ship from May 2028 to October 2028. The Bonus Version adds a Deep-Sea Fish Display Model to the standard release.
A Chase Scene, Not a Pose
The smart choice here is scale contrast. Godzilla surges through the water while the Shinsei-maru cuts a hard wake beside him, crew firing machine guns and handling mines, and that size gap is the whole emotional engine of the film. At 98 cm (appx. 38.58 in) wide, the base gives the boat enough room to feel like it’s actually escaping, not parked next to a monster for a photo.

Paint Above and Below the Waterline
Prime 1 paints Godzilla’s skin in contrasting tones above and below the waterline, which is exactly the detail that sells a creature half-sunk in the sea. The eyes are given a wet, glossy finish, and the splashes and bubbles are sculpted to follow his body’s movement. On the boat side, I like that the hull is weathered wood rather than clean gray, because Minus One’s Shinsei-maru is a scrappy postwar boat, not a navy showpiece. That level of water-effects work puts it in the same conversation as Tsume Art’s big HQS scene dioramas, though the subject here is far more restrained.
The Seabed and the Deep-Sea Fish
The base is a seabed of steep rock formations, and Prime 1 says it paid special attention to how Godzilla connects to it, so his mass reads as moving through water. The Bonus Version’s Deep-Sea Fish Display Model measures 5 cm (appx. 1.96 in) tall and is shaped by rapid decompression, the ominous sign in the film that something huge is rising. It’s a quiet extra, and honestly it’s the piece I’d point a fellow fan to first. A free-positioning Title Logo Plate is included too.

The Practical Part
The whole display weighs 19.11 lbs (8.7 kg), it’s flagged as an oversized item that may arrive in multiple boxes, and shipping is priced on dimensional weight. Arrival dates are estimates and could stretch through January 2029, so plan your shelf, and your patience, accordingly. Payment plans are offered, and the item ships after the final payment. Note that what’s shown is a prototype, so the final piece may differ.

The Collector’s Survival Guide: How to Justify This
The Collector Math: The movie’s called Minus One because postwar Japan was already at zero, and then Godzilla knocked it below. This costs $2,365, which takes my savings to exactly zero and not one dollar lower. Against Godzilla, zero counts as a win.
How to tell your wife: Babe, I know you’re about to ask what Noriko asked Shikishima: is your war finally over? This is Godzilla vs. the Shinsei-maru, limit one per person, so it’s literally my last battle. My war officially ends between May and October 2028.
How to tell your parents: Dad, you always said a boat is just a hole in the water you throw money into. This is the Shinsei-maru, and its ocean is solid polystone, so not even Godzilla can put a hole in it. Finally, a boat you’d approve of.
How to tell your kids: This little deep-sea fish came with Godzilla, and in the movie those fish float up right before he arrives. You can look at it all day, but wherever this fish goes, Godzilla shows up next. Take it to your room and that’s between you and Godzilla.

At USD 2,365 with only 350 made, this is a serious commitment, but the scrappy wooden Shinsei-maru beside a nearly one-meter Godzilla captures what Minus One is actually about better than any solo statue could. If you have the room for a 98 cm footprint, I think it earns the spot, and we’ll update this if Prime 1 changes the ship window.
