The King Ghidorah Vinyl Collectible by ACRO is up for pre-order now, and it’s the 1964 Ghidorah from the Godzilla franchise, sculpted by James Groman for ACRO’s new Godzilla VS Remix Series. It’s priced at USD 348 and expected to ship between May 2027 and July 2027. I’ll be honest: a three-headed space dragon in soft vinyl is exactly the kind of announcement that makes me reread the spec sheet twice.
The King Ghidorah Vinyl Collectible is a 40 cm (appx. 15.75 in) PVC and vinyl statue of King Ghidorah (1964), made by ACRO and sculpted by James Groman. It is part of the Godzilla VS Remix Series and costs USD 348. It is expected to ship from May 2027 to July 2027, with a limit of 6 per person.
Why the 1964 Ghidorah Is the Right Pick
ACRO could have opened with any era, and I like that this one goes back to the original golden space dragon from 1964. That design is all about silhouette: three long necks, two tails, huge wings, and that crowned head shape fans can recognize from across a room. A sculptor like Groman, whose name carries real weight in designer vinyl circles, gets to lean into that silhouette instead of fighting it.

The U-Vinyl Trick, Explained
The interesting part here is the process. ACRO says its U-Vinyl technology uses a burn-out mold process meant to reproduce the textures and small sculptural nuances of the original artwork, which traditional sofubi tends to soften. Classic soft vinyl is lovable partly because it’s a little blobby, so the pitch is basically sofubi charm with statue-level detail. If it lands, that’s a genuinely new middle ground between a hollow Japanese kaiju toy and a Prime 1 Studio piece, at a fraction of the size and fuss.
Sculpt Volume and Shelf Presence
Forty centimeters is a lot of dragon, and with Ghidorah the real question is width, not height, since those wings and necks spread out. Exact footprint and weight are not yet announced, so I’d measure your shelf depth before the payment plan kicks in. The images shown are of a prototype, and ACRO notes the final production piece may differ, so I’m watching for updated photos of the scale texture on the necks.

A Remix, Not a Replica
The series name matters. A “Remix” suggests Groman is interpreting the 1964 suit rather than tracing it, and I think that’s the healthier approach for vinyl, a material that rewards bold shapes over screen-accurate wrinkles. ACRO’s background is Godzilla sofubi in Japan, and this line is its push into international markets, so this Ghidorah is effectively the opening statement.

The Collector’s Survival Guide: How to Justify This
The Collector Math: In King of the Monsters, Ghidorah drained a whole city’s power grid just to recharge. Mine is 15.75 inches of vinyl that plugs into nothing, so after $348 my monthly electric bill for King Ghidorah is zero. Technically, I’m saving us a city’s worth of electricity.
How to tell your wife: Monarch’s official code name for King Ghidorah is Monster Zero. So when he ships next year, the number of new monsters coming into this house is officially zero. It’s right there in his name, babe.
How to tell your parents: Dad, you always said two heads are better than one. King Ghidorah has three of them on one 15.75-inch body, so that’s everything you taught me plus a spare. I’m just following your advice, with interest.
How to tell your kids: This is King Ghidorah, and in King of the Monsters one roar from him woke up every monster on Earth. So nobody yells near his shelf before eight on a Saturday. The scariest monster in this house is me before coffee.

I think the 1964 design and the U-Vinyl burn-out mold process are a smart pairing, because Ghidorah’s crowded necks and wings are exactly where ordinary soft vinyl loses detail. If the production piece matches Groman’s prototype, USD 348 buys a statue-grade 40 cm Ghidorah that still has real sofubi soul, and we’ll update this when final photos land.
