The Mio Amakura・Mayu Amakura Collectible Figure by Kotobukiya brings the twins from Fatal Frame / Project Zero to the OSHI WORKS line, and it’s up for pre-order now at $150. It’s expected to ship between June and August 2027. I’ll say it up front: of all the horror games to get a gentle, display-anywhere figure, I didn’t expect the one where you fight ghosts with a camera.
This is a 16 cm (appx. 6.3 in) figure of Mio and Mayu Amakura from FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE, made by Kotobukiya with production cooperation from THOUSAND INC. It is priced at $150 and is expected to ship from June 2027 to August 2027. It’s made of ABS, PVC and iron, with a limit of 6 per person.
Back-to-Back, Hands Touching
The pose comes straight from the remake’s key visual. Mio and Mayu sit back-to-back with their hands just touching, and crimson butterflies drift around them. If you played Crimson Butterfly, you know why that matters. The whole game is about Mio trying to keep her sister from drifting off into All God’s Village, so a pose where they only touch at the fingertips says more about the story than any dramatic action shot would.
Digital Printing on the Faces
Kotobukiya is using digital printing for both expressions, which I like a lot for this pair. Twins are hard. Paint the eyes a hair differently and suddenly they look like cousins. Printing keeps Mio and Mayu matched while letting each face carry its own mood, the same trick Good Smile’s higher-end scale lines lean on for crisp eyes at small sizes. At 16 cm, that precision counts for more than sculpted lashes ever could.
The Butterfly and the Camera
The extras are the part I keep coming back to. You get a crimson butterfly that glows under black light, plus the Camera Obscura, the antique camera that’s your only weapon against the ghosts. Photographing your shelf with the real Camera Obscura sitting right on it is a nerdy little loop I fully respect. The glowing butterfly is smart too, because in this story it reads as beautiful and wrong at the same time.
Two Bases, Two Moods
There’s a dedicated base for recreating the key visual, plus a standard OSHI WORKS base so the twins can line up with the rest of the series. Kotobukiya pitches the line as scale-figure volume at a friendlier price, and $150 for two characters plus props backs that up. I’d keep the scene base for the main shelf and save the standard one for when the OSHI WORKS lineup gets crowded.

The Collector’s Survival Guide: How to Justify This
The Collector Math: Mio chased Mayu through an entire cursed village and still kept losing her. Kotobukiya ships both twins in one box for $150, which is $75 a twin, and neither one can wander off. I’ve already beaten the game.
How to tell your wife: Babe, in Fatal Frame the strongest shot is the one you take at the very last second. It’s so important they named the whole game after it. That’s why you’re hearing about this after I hit Buy.
How to tell your parents: Mom, you always said travel is the best education. Mio and Mayu spent a whole night touring an old Japanese village full of shrines and storehouses without ever buying a plane ticket. I’m getting both tour guides for $150.
How to tell your kids: This is Mio, and her Camera Obscura photographs ghosts that nobody can see with their own eyes. That’s why nobody points a phone or tablet at Dad’s shelf, ever. You don’t want to know who else is up there.
For $150, you get both twins, a black-light butterfly and the Camera Obscura in a pose that actually tells the Crimson Butterfly story, which is more than a lot of pricier scale figures manage. If the remake hooked you, I think this one earns its shelf space, and we’ll update this post as the June 2027 ship window gets closer.
