A Landmark Collaboration for Designer Toy History
It’s not often we see a true piece of Hong Kong toy design history get the high-end treatment, but this announcement from Hot Toys and Brothersfree is genuinely significant. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Brothersfree (founded in 2000 by Kenny Wong, Winson Ma, and William Tsang), they are releasing the 1/6th scale Space Worker Baby (Brothersfree 25th Version) Collectible Figure.

Brothersfree’s influence, especially through their iconic Brothersworker line from the early 2000s, cannot be overstated in elevating the standard for 12-inch figures incorporating street culture. This new iteration of Baby, their first female character concept, reimagines the ‘Goddess of the Construction Site’ for an outer-space environment, perfectly blending that rugged industrial aesthetic they are known for with a sci-fi shell.
Craftsmanship and Detail Analysis
The silhouette of this piece is undeniably strong. Standing approximately 27.5 cm (appx. 10.8 inch) tall with 20 points of articulation, the figure carries the classic, hard-edged industrial feel even in the space suit. I am particularly impressed by the head sculpt; the detailed cheekbones, full lips, and defined contours capture the spirit of the original design. The addition of hand-woven white dreadlocks adds a fantastic textural contrast to the harder elements of the suit.

The presentation leans heavily into function and utility, which is the core of the Brothersfree philosophy. The accessories are fantastic: a detailed space helmet, a functional-looking grabber tool, a short repair plier, and a laser welding gun. This level of tactical gear really sells the narrative of Baby working hard in the vacuum of space. Furthermore, the ability to swap out parts—displaying her classic worker vest beneath the open space suit—provides excellent versatility for display.

Collector’s Value and Presentation
This release is positioned as a true collectible artifact. It comes complete with a display base inspired by the Martian surface, a certificate of authenticity personally signed by the Brothersfree artists, and an individual serial number. Given that this is a limited run of only 600 sets worldwide, it immediately secures its place as a future centerpiece.

For those of us who have followed the evolution of designer vinyl and high-end articulated figures from Hong Kong, this Space Worker Baby is more than just a figure; it’s a tribute to a quarter-century of dedication to unique character design. I anticipate this will sit right in the central C-position on my display shelves.
