Knight’s & Magic Ikaruga METAL BUILD Action Figure by Tamashii Nations

Tamashii Nations brings Ernesti's four-armed, gold-armored Ikaruga into METAL BUILD with Hideki Tenjin's design arrangements, die-cast joints and a $400 price tag shipping mid-2027.

Ikaruga Action Figure by Tamashii Nations

The Ikaruga Action Figure by Tamashii Nations is a METAL BUILD release from the anime Knight’s & Magic, and it’s expected to ship between July and September 2027 for $400. I’ve wanted a serious version of Ernesti’s four-armed machine for a long time, and this one comes with mecha designer Hideki Tenjin’s own design arrangements.

The Ikaruga Action Figure by Tamashii Nations is part of the TAMASHII NATIONS METAL BUILD line, based on the Knight’s & Magic anime. It stands 8.3 inches (21 cm) tall and is made of ABS, PVC and die-cast metal. The price is $400, with shipping expected from July to September 2027 and possibly through December 2027.

Tenjin Redraws His Own Knight

The part that gets me is who did the rework. Hideki Tenjin designed Ikaruga for the anime, and here he’s adding METAL BUILD-specific elements: engraving across the gold armor and long ceremonial flags hanging off the shoulders. When the original designer arranges his own machine, you’re getting his second draft, not a factory guess, and the new silhouette reads like Ikaruga dressed for a parade instead of a brawl.

Die-Cast Where It Matters

Tamashii Nations put die-cast in the joints and armor, and that’s the right call for a machine with Ikaruga’s odd, top-heavy proportions. Four arms on a slim waist is a balance problem in plastic; metal gives those limbs a sense of weight and should help poses hold. I’d put the engineering intent next to threezero’s ROBO-DOU line, though METAL BUILD usually leans harder into surface detail and gold plating than threezero’s weathered look.

Ten Hands and a Spare Waist

The accessory count is built around the extra limbs. You get three sets of replacement wrists for both the main and secondary arms, ten pieces in total, plus a complete set of replacement waist parts and four lead wires for the Tsuki-no-Hte ejection effect. A complete set of dedicated bases rounds it out, which matters because a four-armed figure with flags needs real support when you pose it mid-launch.

Shelf Planning

I’d park Ikaruga beside other METAL BUILD robots, where the gold engraving and die-cast heft will match the house finish. At 21 cm (appx. 8.3 in), it sits comfortably in a standard display cabinet shelf, but leave side room for those shoulder flags and the secondary arms. Give it a dark backdrop so the gold actually reads instead of melting into wood or white shelving.

The Collector’s Survival Guide: How to Justify This

The Collector Math: Ernie wanted his own giant robot so badly that it took him two entire lifetimes to get one. Tamashii Nations ships me Ikaruga next summer for $400, all in this one lifetime. Same robot, half the lifetimes.

How to tell your wife: Babe, Ernie was a kid obsessed with robots, and the king gave him his own order of knights for it. I’m a grown man obsessed with robots, so I’m overdue. Consider this $400 my application.

How to tell your parents: Dad, you always said learning to program would pay off someday. Ernie was a programmer, and rewriting the robots’ magic code got him Ikaruga, his own custom knight. Turns out you were right about computer class.

How to tell your kids: This is Ikaruga, and those two extra arms on his back are for catching anyone who touches him. You can look all you want, but he’s part diecast, so he never gets tired. You have two hands; he has four.

At $400, the case for Ikaruga comes down to Tenjin’s engraved gold armor and those ceremonial shoulder flags, which turn a familiar anime design into something new rather than a straight copy. If you’ve been waiting for Knight’s & Magic to get a premium die-cast treatment, this is the one I’m watching for when shipping lands in 2027.
