The Scene Before Everything Happens
Most Leia statues reach for the blaster or the Hoth vest, and that’s fair. PCS went quieter: a princess, a droid and a message that kicks off the whole saga. I like that choice a lot, because Leia’s real power in A New Hope is that she thinks three moves ahead while she’s surrounded, and this pose catches her mid-decision rather than mid-fight.
That White Dress Is Doing the Heavy Lifting
The dress is sculpted with realistic fabric folds, which is the hard way to do white. A pale garment gives the paint nowhere to hide, so every fold has to read through shadow alone, and from the prototype photos the drape pools convincingly toward the base. Her face gets painted make-up and that unmistakable side-bun hairstyle, and the likeness of the young princess is the part I keep coming back to.
R2-D2, Properly Dirty
R2 gets screen-accurate details and realistic weathering, and I’m glad PCS didn’t polish him into a showroom droid. The grime is what tells you he’s been rattling around a Tantive IV corridor, and it gives the clean white of Leia’s dress something to push against. That contrast is the kind of thing Sideshow’s Premium Format line has trained collectors to expect at this price, and PCS seems to know it.
Four Glowing Windows
The platform base carries four LED-lit windows, each holding a bronze-style relief of a key moment from Leia and R2’s story. It’s a smart storytelling device: the figures show one beat, the base shows what that beat set in motion. Do plan around the footprint, though, since this is 21 inches (53 cm) wide and 18 inches (46 cm) deep, and the LEDs run on an AC adapter, so you’ll want an outlet nearby.

For $1,955 and a long wait until late 2027, this earns its shelf space mainly through choice of moment: Leia and R2 at the message, backed by four lit reliefs, tells a fuller story than any action pose would. If you have the 21 inches of width and an outlet nearby, I think it’s the most thoughtful Leia piece announced in a while.
