The RX-178 GUNDAM Mk-Ⅱ (A.E.U.G.) Action Figure by Tamashii Nations is the next big swing in the Gundam METAL STRUCTURE KAITAI-SHOU-KI line, and I’ve been waiting for this mobile suit to get the treatment. It’s priced at $1,255, it’s a pre-order right now, and shipping is expected between February 2027 and April 2027. I’ll tell you up front: this is the version of the Mk-II I most wanted to see opened up.
The RX-178 GUNDAM Mk-Ⅱ (A.E.U.G.) Action Figure is a 12.2 in (31 cm) completed robot figure made by Tamashii Nations in ABS, PVC and diecast. It is priced at $1,255 with a limit of one per person. Shipping is expected from February 2027 to April 2027, and arrival may run through July 2027.
Where the Mk-II Fits in the KAITAI-SHOU-KI Story
Tamashii Nations calls KAITAI-SHOU-KI (roughly, “dismantled” engineering) its highest-end brand of completed robot figures, and the line started with the original Gundam. Moving to the Mk-II makes historical sense to me, because this is the suit that carried the Gundam name into Zeta Gundam, built by the Titans and famously taken by the A.E.U.G. and piloted by Kamille Bidan. Picking the A.E.U.G. version means you get the rebel colors, the ones most fans picture when they hear “Mk-II.”

About 2,500 Parts and Why That Number Matters
The headline spec is roughly 2,500 parts, each section built from a material chosen for that area, which is where the ABS, PVC and diecast mix comes in. The Mk-II has always been sold to fans as the first suit with a movable frame, so a line built around peeling armor back to show the skeleton fits this design better than almost any other. Built-in armor deployment means you can display it buttoned up or half-stripped, and I’d bet most shelves end up with the second option.
Lights, Base and Tiny Mechanics
There are lighting gimmicks in both the body and the base, plus mini figures meant to sell the feeling of a giant machine during maintenance. Power is LR41 x 3 and AAA x 4, sold separately, so plan a battery run before the box arrives. The mini figures are the detail I keep coming back to, because a 31 cm robot reads as a toy until there’s a little person standing next to it, and then it reads as eighteen meters of hangar equipment.

Finish and the Benchmark
The official materials talk about textures that evoke the real thing and coloring that shows the passage of time, so expect a worked-over surface rather than flat plastic. For comparison, the obvious high-end reference point is Hot Toys’ diecast Iron Man work, where the metal frame is part of the pitch. My caution is simple: the images shown are prototypes, and I’m watching how the final paint on the white armor holds up against those early shots.

The Collector’s Survival Guide: How to Justify This
The Collector Math: The Titans built three Mk-IIs, and the A.E.U.G. stole all three for exactly zero dollars. Add my $1,255, and the average price of a Mk-II works out to about $314. Thanks to the Titans, it’s practically a steal.
How to tell your wife: In Zeta Gundam, Char puts on sunglasses, calls himself Quattro, and everyone just plays along. This $1,255 Gundam takes seven batteries, so from now on, it’s a lamp. It’s a lamp, babe, just like he’s Quattro.
How to tell your parents: Mom, you always said everyone deserves a second chance. The Mk-II was built by the Titans, then switched to the A.E.U.G. and traded its black paint for white. I’m just supporting a robot that turned its life around.
How to tell your kids: In Zeta Gundam, a teenager named Kamille climbed into a Mk-II one day and spent the rest of the show fighting a space war. You may look at this one all you want, but if you touch it, you’ve joined the A.E.U.G. Trust me, homework is easier.

If the Mk-II matters to you as the suit that bridged the original series and Zeta, the frame-first KAITAI-SHOU-KI approach suits it better than a standard figure ever could. At $1,255 with a one-per-person limit, it earns its shelf space mainly for collectors who want the inside of the machine on display, and we’ll update this when final production images appear.
